Description

The ELSE NUCLEAR AERIS is a rugged, field-ready portable gamma spectrometric system engineered for immediate, in-situ analysis of radioactive contamination on air particulate sampling media. Distributed in Canada by SciWise, the AERIS system eliminates sample transport delays to off-site laboratories by providing fast radionuclide identification and activity quantification directly in the field.

Deployable in fixed stations or mobile configurations, AERIS directly accepts standard particulate filters and charcoal cartridges up to 60 mm in diameter. Featuring a high-sensitivity scintillation detector enclosed in a lead shield, the instrument delivers lab-grade spectrometric accuracy even in challenging, high-background radiation environments.

Additional information

  • On-Site In-Situ Analysis: Perform rapid isotopic identification and activity quantification (Bq/m3) without sending air samples to an external laboratory.
  • High-Sensitivity Detection: Powered by a 2″x2″ NaI (TI) scintillation crystal coupled with Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM), an integrated digital Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA), and a 1 cm cylindrical lead shield.
  • Universal Media Compatibility: Accommodates particulate filters and TEDA-impregnated charcoal cartridges up to 60 mm diameter, utilizing Monte Carlo-calculated efficiency curves for standard geometries.
  • Dual Operating Modes:
    • Guided Field Mode: One-button start and automated energy calibration designed for non-specialist field operators.
    • Expert Mode: Full spectrometric control, custom isotope library configuration, and detailed spectral analysis for health physicists.
  • Rugged & Portable: Compact 12 kg chassis with an IP65 ingress rating, an operating temperature envelope of -10°C to +45°C, and a high-impact transport case.
  • Extended Field Autonomy: Reversible fast startup (<2 minutes) and internal rechargeable battery providing 3 hours of continuous operation (extendable to 8 hours).
  • Connected Field Intelligence: Integrated GNSS/GPS positioning and an industrial cellular router (3G / 4G LTE / 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, USB, RS-232) for automatic data transmission to central radiological networks.
  • Nuclear Facility Air Quality & Perimeter Monitoring: Continuous or routine surveillance of airborne particulate releases.
  • Emergency Response & First Responder Teams: Instant isotopic characterization of fallout or plume activity following radiological incidents.
  • Health Physics & Radiation Protection: In-plant air sampling verification during maintenance, outages, and decommissioning.
  • Environmental & Regulatory Compliance: On-site verification of ambient airborne radionuclides without sample transit latency.
